Care

Clean by boiling in water only. Place the teapot in a pot of water and begin on low heat, allowing it to warm gradually before bringing the water to a gentle boil. Let it cool gradually afterwards. Avoid sudden temperature changes, which can cause thermal shock and cracking.

Your handmade piece

Each Duanni Teapot is made entirely by hand. You will receive a similar piece to the one photographed, with natural variations in shape, texture, colour and mineral markings that make each vessel individual.

Form & use

This 100 ml Duanni teapot by Zheng Bixin has a rounded body, a domed lid, a short spout and a loop handle. Its restrained form keeps the focus on the clay’s natural grain and the everyday rhythm of brewing tea.

Duanni clay

Duanni is a traditional Yixing zisha clay known for its pale yellow, beige, tan and occasionally olive-toned appearance. Naturally rich in minerals, the clay develops subtle variations in colour and texture during firing, giving each vessel a distinct surface and character.

Compared with denser Yixing clays, Duanni is often more open and slightly more porous in structure, allowing it to interact gently with tea over repeated use. Its soft, earthy appearance and natural mineral texture make it one of the most recognisable clay families within Yixing teaware.

As with other natural zisha clays, differences in tone, grain and firing are part of the material’s character rather than imperfections.
