Care

Clean by boiling in water only. Place the teapot in a pot of water and begin on low heat, allowing it to warm gradually before bringing the water to a gentle boil. Let it cool gradually afterwards. Avoid sudden temperature changes, which can cause thermal shock and cracking.

Your handmade piece

Each Wood Fire Teapot is made entirely by hand. You will receive a similar piece to the one photographed, with natural variations in shape, texture, colour and mineral markings that make each vessel individual.

Highly recommended

Light floral Anxi oolong, light Taiwanese high mountain oolong and Phoenix Dan Cong are our strongest pairings. Leave room for rolled leaves to expand and use a quick pour to keep concentrated Dan Cong infusions balanced.

Recommended

Roasted Wuyi, Anxi and Taiwanese oolongs, highly oxidised and lightly roasted oolong, red tea, aged raw puerh and dark teas are rated three out of five. Dark teas include ripe puerh, Liu Bao and Fu brick tea.

Less recommended

Fresh white tea, aged white tea and young raw puerh are rated two out of five. Compare their fragrance, texture and aftertaste with porcelain, and control steeping times carefully for young raw puerh.

Not recommended

Green and yellow tea are rated one out of five for this pot. Start with porcelain as a reference for their fresh and subtle flavours.

Choose a tea family

Once you find a pairing you enjoy, keep the unglazed pot dedicated to one tea family or a similar flavour profile. The circles show our pairing recommendations for this vessel.

Form, balance & detail

This 100 ml teapot by Zheng Bixin has a rounded, compact body with a grounded presence. Measured transitions between the body, spout, handle and lid give it a cohesive silhouette, shaped for comfort and everyday brewing. The lid sits securely within the rim, while the handle offers a natural grip.

A single hole filter at the spout opening provides a simple passage for the tea as you pour. The restrained form keeps the focus on the clay and the practical details of use.

Zhuni clay

The teapot is wood fired and left unglazed, allowing the natural colour and texture of the Zhuni clay to remain visible. Surface variations and traces of making give each handmade piece its own character.

With repeated brewing, the surface gradually develops through contact with tea, water and handling. Its character becomes part of your daily tea ritual, shaped by use over time.
